Ft. Stewart has great economic significance for several reasons: First and foremost, the annual payroll exceeds a billion dollars a year, serves as the home to the 3rd Infantry Division, and is the second largest military installation east of the Mississippi. Unlike many other military bases, Ft. Stewart is enjoying spectacular growth within its own right, with millions of construction dollars being spent annually to upgrade and expand facilities.
Liberty County has an estimated population of 62,000 citizens living within county boundaries, with an estimated household income of $46,227.00. As stated, we are located along the picturesque Georgia coast just 35 minutes southwest of Savannah with easy access to Interstate 95 (major north/south connector), Interstate 16 to Macon and Atlanta, and Highway 84 a major east/west connector literally runs through the town. Hinesville serves as a hub-city for Darien, Glennville, Claxton, Ludowici, Jesup, Pembroke, Richmond Hill, Screven, and many other small municipalities located in nearby counties (within 35 miles).
